Dr. J. Scott Bobst is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over a decade of experience in full-scope surgical care. Known for his precise skill, calm demeanor, and genuine compassion, Dr. Bobst has helped thousands of patients restore their health, function, and confidence through advanced oral surgery.
Born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho, Dr. Bobst is proud to bring world-class surgical care back home to serve the community he knows and loves.
ABOUT
Education and training
Dr. Bobst’s path to oral surgery began with a hands-on foundation, he started a construction business in his hometown after high school. While he found success in building homes and commercial spaces, his deeper calling was in healthcare.
That passion took him to Southern California, where he earned a BA in Biology from California State University. He continued on to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, CA.
Dr. Bobst pursued a rigorous five-year surgical residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio—two of the nation’s top medical institutions. There, he received advanced training in:
- Dental implant surgery
- Wisdom teeth removal
- Full-arch reconstruction (All-on-4®)
- Jaw and facial trauma
- Oral pathology
- Sedation and anesthesia
He became board-certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery shortly after completing his residency in 2010.
Practice Philosophy
Dr. Bobst brings the Idaho values of honesty, respect, and neighborly care. His approach is patient-first: blending clinical precision with warmth and empathy.
He works closely with general dentists, orthodontists, and physicians across the Treasure Valley to ensure every patient receives personalized, coordinated care. He also maintains hospital privileges through the Saint Alphonsus medical system.

Life Outside the Office
Outside the surgical suite, Dr. Bobst is a proud husband and father who enjoys life’s greatest adventure, his family. He and his wife, Rachel, live in the Treasure Valley with their three children: Zoey, Teagan, and Jaxon (affectionately known as “Boy”).
A true outdoorsman, Dr. Bobst enjoys hiking, fishing, and exploring Idaho’s rugged beauty whenever possible.
